American Dirt: Book Redesign AUG 21 - DEC 21
This project is a book redesign of the book American Dirt. This story is about a mother and son’s dangerous escape from Mexico to the United States because of a murder. Through a couple of explorations, I found a design that best illustrates this story. The red, white, and blue represents the mother and son’s final goal: the United States. The dirt, which is literally written by dirt, represents the environment in which they had to travel. The beginning of the letter “I” is stained with “blood” to represent the beginning of the story and the cause for the escape: murder. The white lines in the background represent both the train routes and also the modern era, which is when this story takes place.
